SEB COL ET ALL4ONE 5e SUR LE LOUIS VUITTON TROPHY AUCKLAND

Le Louis Vuitton Trophy Auckland s'est achevé sur la victoire de l'équipe locale : Emirates Team New Zealand, vainqueur sur les italiens de Mascalzone Latino.
Un événement qui a rencontré un franc succès en Nouvelle Zélande, que ce soit par le nombre de spectateurs présents sur le village de la course, mais aussi sur l'eau où les bateaux spectateurs étaient nombreux pour assister aux régates.
Enfin, la diffusion des régates avec des images en direct du plan d'eau doublées de Virtual Eye, et rediffusées chaque matin pour l'Europe, ont permis au Louis Vuitton Trophy de passer un cap médiatiquement après le premier événement qui avait permis de lancer le concept à Nice en novembre dernier.

Toutes les équipes se préparent désormais pour le prochain volet qui se déroulera à La Maddalena, en Sardaigne, du 22 mai au 6 juin. Et lorsque l'on connaît l'engouement du public Italien pour ces régates, il va sans dire que le Louis Vuitton Trophy La Maddalena permettra de franchir un nouveau palier.

L'équipe franco-allemande ALL4ONE termine quant à elle ce Louis Vuitton Trophy Auckland à la 5e place après avoir nettement progressé. La 3e place de l'équipe dans le Round Robin et les beaux points marqués contre des équipes solides ont montré à quel point l'équipe était à présent « sur les rails », même s'il reste encore du travail à accomplir pour arriver au niveau des meilleurs.

Même si nous terminons une nouvelle fois 5e comme lors du dernier Louis Vuitton Trophy Nice, ALL4ONE a vraiment fait une bien meilleure régate. Malheureusement, nous avons laissé passer notre chance de passer en demi-finale.
Ce sera notre objectif pour le prochain Louis Vuitton Trophy à La Maddalena. Nous avons déjà hâte d'arriver sur cet événement qui aura lieu en Mai en Sardaigne ».

Sur un match toutes les équipes peuvent battre les autres, ce qui a donné des régates absolument fantastiques démontrant tout l'intérêt et le potentiel de ce nouveau circuit mondial. ALL4ONE termine 5ème à seulement une régate des demi-finales, affichant ainsi de sérieux progrès par rapport au Louis Vuitton Trophy - Nice. Sur un match nous sommes devenus très compétitifs puisque nous avons réussi à battre le finaliste d'Auckland et le vainqueur de Nice en terminant 3ème du Round Robin. Nous devons maintenant travailler pour devenir performants sur l'ensemble de l'épreuve. La prochaine étape à La Maddalena va permettre à la World Sailing Teams Association d'offrir ces images spectaculaires au public européen avec probablement des équipes supplémentaires, dont le Defender de l'America's Cup BMW Oracle Racing. Nous remercions encore nos partenaires (Geodis, Saint Honoré, adidas, Canal+, Château Tourril) pour leur soutien qui permet à notre nouvelle équipe franco-allemande d'être présente au plus haut niveau de la voile de compétition internationale. »

Seb Col : "Did not work well for us today, only 1 win against Pacé on 6 matchs.

Unfortunately we did not get up to speed at the first match, lost a bit of confidence and had to sail in very hard wind conditions, very shifty and impossible to anticipate for the rest of the day.

Few good things anyway, communication and decision process were good on starts (4 times first cross on 6 matchs!), decision making process upwind (had the upwind lead 5 times on 6 matchs) and manoeuvers.

Still work to do on defence downwind, our decision process is still not fast enough to react properly.

Anyway, by spending time together on small boats we are learning a lot as a team. It's been a frustrating day but I think a good investment for the future."

Seb and the ALL4ONE team are now all in Auckland and looking forward to the Louis Vuitton Trophy Auckland start on March 9; Trainings are on Sunday 7 and Monday 8.

NEWS from Seb, John, Philippe, Jean-Marie, Christian and Gilles in the match racing event in Auckland after day 1

Hi everybody,

Some news about our MR team here in Auckland sailing the Omega Cup. First day of racing today, 12-18 knts, sunny, great sailing.

Took us more time than the others to get up to speed especially that all the guys leading in front of us had a 3 days training session last week, yesterday we discovered the boat during the practice session sailing with the genoa, today was jib up and we had to learn how to make this boat fast. At the end of the day we are happy about or speed, manoeuvers and starts.

We improved a lot our tacks, and have still some work to do in defense downwind.
Races are all very close, we won 3 matchs on 8 (Dickson, Holmberg, Mirsky), lost Bruni and Barker just on the finish line, and lost Jablonski and Minoprio because of penalty in the prestart. Ainslie is leading with 6 points.

This is a great opportunity for us and especially Philippe, John and me to have this experience together. We are facing a lot of situations we have to deal with in a very short time, and our decision making process will improve a lot this week, I'm sure.
